India is positioning to become a world leader in olive oil production

Commercial production of olive oil is due to begin in September 2013 in Rajasthan as part of a state government-funded project that has supported the planting of more than 144,000 olive trees planted on 260 hectares since 2008. With long, dry summers and short, cool winters, conditions in the Indian state are ideal for producing olives. To encourage farmers to participate, Rajasthan's government is offering subsidies to cover 80
